April 16: En route to Walden

We slept in since the roads to the Dusky Grouse place were impassable. Birded around Steamboat Springs on 20 Mile Road, then after lunch went up Rabbit Ears Pass, stopping at Muddy Creek Trailhead, and to Walden. After dinner we checked out the drive to the Greater Sage Grouse lek in snow and then ice fog. I’m afraid I’ll be in the car without front wheel drive tomorrow and won’t get to see the displaying birds unless the weather improves. I’m thoroughly sick of snow, but feel selfish because the drought has been so bad here.
